Afonso Lardosa (b. 1999, Coimbra)

Afonso Lardosa is an emerging visual artist. From an early age, he cultivated a deep interest in art, particularly in drawing, painting, and sculpture. He recalls coming into contact, for the first time as a child, with the paintings of Henrique Pousão and the sculptures of Soares dos Reis, feeling inspired and wanting to create like them. Although he was far from their level, that moment was a transformative one.

He currently lives and works in Porto.

He completed his education in Coimbra up to secondary school. In Porto, he began a degree in Art History but eventually left university to pursue practical training at AARP — Atelier de Arte Realista do Porto. In 2021, he received a scholarship for an intensive painting course in Rome. And in 2025, he began publicly exhibiting his work.

His main artistic goal is to evolve technically and to tell stories visually — in a sensitive and authentic way.
